Marcato Partners has been building and operating software since 2009, from Anoka, Minnesota.

A small practice, deliberately

We are a small, senior practice, and deliberately so. The work we do well — owning a system's architecture and its production behaviour over years — depends on the people who designed it still being around to answer for it. That is difficult to do at scale, so we remain comfortably small.

Partnership, not projects

Our clients come to us for a partnership rather than a project. We design and build, we put the result into production, and then we stay: monitoring it, tending it, and keeping its architecture on an upward trajectory long after launch.

Who we work with

We have taken companies from a sketch on a napkin, through live products and into funding, and deep into operational excellence. We have worked with founders, with established businesses, and alongside Fortune 500 teams — and we have done it from a small office on the river in Anoka.
